RHA Central Partners with Portage Clinic to host Family Medicine Residents Retreat
September 13, 2010: In partnership with the Portage Clinic, the Regional Health Authority - Central Manitoba Inc. (RHA Central) is proud to host the 2010 Family Medicine Residents Retreat to be held September 24-26 at the Canad Inns in Portage la Prairie. Each year, the University of Manitoba Family Medicine Program helps facilitate a retreat providing residents with the opportunity to participate in continuing medical education (CME) sessions and explore future career opportunities. Over the years, this retreat has been held at various venues across the province with Central being chosen for 2010. “We are very pleased to have been selected to host this retreat and look forward to welcoming future potential physicians to our beautiful landscape”, shares VP Medical Dr. Denis Fortier. “Central is indeed rural life at its best where one can find employment to build a life on.” Dr. Jennifer St. Goddard, Family Physician/Anesthetist, Portage Clinic, adds that the program of business promises to be stimulating for the residents. “The Portage Clinic and RHA Central have worked hard in partnership over the past six months and we look forward to a very successful retreat”, reports St. Goddard. Central Region is home to 120 physicians including family physicians and various specialty physicians. It is an exciting area of the province to visit, live and work offering a rich fabric of cultural, ethnic and economic diversity. The Region stretches over 17,025 square kilometers and is home to more than 105,000 people. RHA Central offers wide variety of health programs and services, all of which collectively strive to assist the population of this region to become As healthy as can be.
