Community Mental Health Services
Community Mental Health Services are available to anyone in Southern Health-Santé Sud region who has a mental health concern. Assessment, counseling and education services are available to children, teens and adults when mental health affects home, school, work or social life.
Community Trauma Debriefing provides information and support to people whose lives have been affected by a traumatic event (also called critical incident).

Crisis Response Service (West of the Red River)
A 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-a-week crisis line that provides a confidential, short-term contact with a mental health professional with the goal of crisis resolution. Services are provided by phone or in person at regional hospital emergency departments. Call 1-866-588-1697.
Crisis Response Services (East of the Red River)
Crisis/Warm Call Line (24 Hour Crisis Support)
Support provided via telephone to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. 204-326-9276 or toll free: 1-888-617-7715
Mobile Team (East of the Red River)
Community visits to provide assessment and support for persons who are experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis, together with short-term follow ups and referrals/linkages to other services. Transportation to Steinbach crisis stabilization unit when necessary. The team also provides community education on crisis and trauma.
Mental Health Liaison Nurse/Emergency Room Liaison Nurse provides mental health assessment.

Karen Devine Safe House provides a residential, short-stay setting for adults with mental health difficulties. Referrals can be made by calling Access, or the Karen Devine Safe House Coordinator at 204-239-2308 during the day, Or the Mental Health Crisis Service after hours.
Crisis Stabilization Unit (450 Main Street, Steinbach)
The Crisis Stabilization Unit is a short term stay environment (typically 3-5 days) for individuals when they are experiencing an emotional or life crisis and when life stressors feel overwhelming.
Users of the service do so voluntarily. 24 hour professional support is available, including brief counseling sessions, group work, linkages with other programs and follow-up support. For more information or to speak with a Practitioner, please contact 204-320-1096 or toll free 1-855-320-1096.
