Call to Action - January, 25, 2021 - Inpatient Masking, Enhanced Consent for Clients who are Immunosuppressed, have an Autoimmune Condition, are Pregnant &/or Breastfeeding

Inpatient Masking

In follow-up to the Call to Action on January 11th regarding inpatient masking, a decision has been made not to implement level 1 masks into our acute care facilities.

Inpatients are to be provided a procedure / surgical mask. Please note procedure / surgical masks have an increased protection for splash of fluids and can be more difficult to breathe through. Please monitor inpatients for mask use compliance related to this risk and notify leadership if you note this to be a concern.

Leads (or delegates), if you have received Level 1 masks at your site, please proceed to collect the level 1 masks and return them to the distribution centres, replacing them with procedure / surgical masks.

Enhanced Consent for Clients who are Immunosuppressed, have an Autoimmune Condition, are Pregnant &/or Breastfeeding

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommends that the COVID-19 vaccine may be offered to people who are immunosuppressed due to disease or treatment, to people who have an autoimmune condition, or to those who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding providing certain conditions are met.  Information about steps and forms is included in this document.  Leads (or delegates) review and share accordingly.
