Camp Bridges

Love builds bridges where there are none

Camp Bridges is a camp for children and teens who have experienced the passing of a loved one. The camp is a supportive environment for young campers to learn they are not alone in their grief. They can connect with other campers who are going through similar experiences and participate in fun activities along the way.

Camp Bridges is run every year by the Palliative Care Programs of Southern Health-Santé Sud and Prairie Mountain Health. This year’s camp will be held at Camp Wannakumbac, Clear Lake, MB, on May 24, 25, and 26, 2019.

Campers who have experienced the death of someone close can attend at no cost. There is room for up to 50 children and teens, ages 7-15.

There are four ways you can help make Camp Bridges a success:

  1. Become a volunteer! Camp Bridges is looking for cabin leaders, or people to assist with camp activities
  2. Put up a poster at your workplace
  3. Distribute Camper Application Forms to children and teens you think may benefit from Camp Bridges
  4. Volunteer to sew for a day. Contact us if you have sewing skills and would like to support a day of activities on Saturday, May 25th.

Camper and Volunteer Application Forms are available at your regional Palliative Care centre or the following page. The deadline to submit applications is on May 1, 2019. For more information, contact Heidi Wiebe at 204-371-6559, or by email.
