Quality Service Awards:

East Area - Stephanie Roza
Clinical Resource Nurse - Vita & District Health Personal Care Home

Roza’s colleagues identify some of her key attributes as patience, compassion, integrity and her excellent knowledge in many areas of geriatrics and her willingness to share this knowledge with the team. Roza welcomes challenge and goes wherever she is needed. She is a thorough, fast and efficient worker, who is the ‘go-to” resource for colleagues when they need advice.

Mid Area - Sheila Dheilly
Laundry Aide - Centre de santé St. Claude Health Centre.

Sheila's colleagues describe her as a team player and an inspiration, who always tries to motivate and encourage staff. She takes time to speak with clients when she delivers laundry and think of ways to enhance their experience, like making activity kits for clients and bringing her dog in on her day off for Pet Day.

North Area - Carol Cairn
Payroll Supervisor - Home Care Services, Southport

Carol, say her colleagues, is someone who embodies the values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.  She provides support to hundreds of home care staff and thousands of their clients and, staff say her compassion and understanding make her an easy person to approach when anyone has a question. She is an inspiration to everyone in Home Care Services.

West Area - Karen Dyck
Client Services Manager - Altona Community Memorial Health Centre

Karen colleagues describe her as someone who always goes ‘above and beyond’ to meet the needs of staff, clients and their families. It’s the little things that mean so much to her colleagues, like the Friday snacks and treats and the fact that she is a positive and effective leader who makes everyone on her team feel important, supported and encouraged.

CEO Career Achievement Award:

Pearl Plett
Registered Nurse - Bethesda Regional Health Centre

Pearl worked for 57 years as a registered nurse in Southern Health-Santé Sud. Pearl retired in 2002 and has worked over 600 hours in 2016 at the age of 79. She graduated with her RN certificate in her 40s and has held part-time and full-time positions throughout her career. Throughout Pearl’s numerous years of nursing, she has mentored hundreds of nurses in her humble, quiet and confident manner. She seeks to provide competent and compassionate care to all her patients with excellence. Pearl is consistent in her excellent caregiving, even sitting with patients on her own time. She is a continued support system to those around her and her colleagues say she inspires them all to improve their performance, keep learning and to work as a team.

APM ICT Team Award

This team devoted many hours of work towards the launch of Southern Health-Santé Sud’s new Health Providers’ Site (HPS). They are always willing to troubleshoot, try new processes and explore options to find the best possible solutions. Their focus is always thinking and inclusive of stakeholders, for example, staff and affiliate sites. The transition to the HPS as the new home page was done smoothly and successfully with the support and dedications of this committed team. Pictured above are: front row (lt.-rt.)
