If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. (Nelson Mandela)

Southern Health-Santé Sud’s Francophone residents have a deep connection to their language and culture and the experience of health and well-being is closely linked to having opportunities to use French.

Recognizing the French-speaking population of Manitoba as a significant part of one of the fundamental characteristics of Canada, the Government of Manitoba's French Language Service (FLS) Policy allows the population and the institutions serving it to access government services in both French and English. This provincial policy translates into regional policy which is guided and monitored by the region, the Tables de concertation rurales (official representatives of the Southern Health-Santé Sud Francophone community) as well as provincial and national partners including Santé en français and the Société Santé en français.

As a designated regional health authority, Southern Health-Santé Sud makes it a priority to provide bilingual health care services (English and French) within, but not limited to, designated bilingual areas of its region. We do this through Active Offer of services in French to the public. In other words, it means informing the client at the first point of contact that services are available in both official languages and striving to follow through throughout the service.

Southern Health-Santé Sud is committed to continue engaging in conversations and fostering in partnerships - building on our past progress with a focus to persist the discovery of new possibilities.

Servir avec plaisir – pour et par les Francophones!
