  • stroke
  • hearing loss
  • brain injury
  • Parkinson’s disease

Communication and voice referrals are processed at each of the regional health centres. Access to services is through a variety of referral sources and are prioritized based on need and functional status. Speech therapy services for children are provided to preschoolers (birth to school entry) as well as to home schooled children.

Southern Health-Santé Sud speech therapy services provide a full range of treatment and educational services. Services are based out of three regional health centres (Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Boundary Trails Health Centre and Portage District General Hospital) and may be provided on an outreach basis to homes, day cares and health facilities in the region. Treatments may be provided one-on-one or in the context of a multidisciplinary team.

Speech Therapy care received through a Manitoba health centre is covered by the Province. Some extended health plans also cover Speech Therapy at private clinics. Registration and licensing occurs through the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba.
