Sacred Moment

Board member Terrie Porter shared a reflection about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  Terrie shared internet links to help fellow board members pause and consider the role of the Board of Directors in relation to the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation report.  Board members were asked to reflect on the legacy of what the day stands for both in our region and in our country.  

Finance Committee of the Whole

Ken Klassen presented an update on the Southern Health-Santé Sud financial position, which has a year-to-date reported surplus of just over $3.2 million.  Southern Health-Santé Sud continues to report significant ongoing costs related to the pandemic.

Physician News

The Board received an update on the recruitment status of physicians.  From June to September, a total of 12 new physicians started in the region, including nine new family physicians, two family anesthesia physicians and one new family/obstetrical physician. The Board of Directors acknowledged and celebrated Southern Health-Santé Sud’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Denis Fortier, who received an honorary degree from Université de Saint-Boniface in September, 2021. This honorary degree reflects one of many awards and accomplishments of Dr. Fortier’s exemplary career.

Annual Report to the Community

The Southern Health-Santé Sud Board of Directors approved for submission the Annual Report to the Community.  This report will be made public in early October on the website.
