Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Canada teaches first aid skills to adults so they can provide help to youth. In 14 hours* you will learn:

  • signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
  • basic actions for mental health first aid
  • information about effective interventions and treatments
  • how to access help and resources

Mental Health Problems

  • Substance Related Disorder
  • Mood Related Disorder
  • Anxiety & Trauma Related Disorders
  • Psychotic Disorders
  • Deliberate Self Injury
  • Eating Disorders

Crisis Situations

  • Overdose
  • Suicidal Behaviour
  • Panic Attack
  • Reaction to Traumatic Event
  • Acute Psychotic Episode

 Registration Fee:

  • For Southern Health-Santé Sud staff: No charge
  • For community members: $100 (payable to Southern Health-Santé Sud)
