What's Important to You as a Patient?

Patient Valuesjpg2

We are all patients at some point in our lives and we all have certain expectations of our health care experiences. Most of them are individual to each of us but there are specific values that patients and community members from across our region told us matter the most. Over the final months of 2016, an open public survey was conducted and our Local Health Involvement Groups (LHIGs) worked to discover exactly what some of the expectations of our residents are. The top four priorities for our patients are:

  1. Access to Care & Support
  2. Trust
  3. Safety
  4. Continuity of Care & Transitions

These patient values are the main component of the Declaration of Patient Value. The rest of the Declaration includes the actions that patients told us they expect to see in demonstrating the stated value. An additional guidebook has been created to help staff members understand what values are important to patients and how put them into action. As an organization, we would like to extend a special thank you to community members of our Local Health Involvement Groupss who gave extensive input into the content, design and accompanying documents.
