Young indigenous nurseModeled after the National Gold Award winning program Indigenous Health High School Internship Program, the Indigenous Health Adult Internship Program was created in partnership with Indigenous communities and Southern Health-Santé Sud, providing opportunities for youth who dropped out of school before completing Grade 12 and who are unemployed or under-employed. The goal of the program is to provide adults (18-30) with support and guidance to either return to further their education, enroll in health care training opportunities or obtain employment within health care.

The program offers life skills, pre-employment skills, job shadowing opportunities and a paid work practicum. Criteria to participate:

  • Must be of Indigenous descent
  • Minimum Grade 10 education
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance in training
  • Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
