About the Session

Southern Health–Santé Sud is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all healthcare workers (HCW) and patients/residents and Clients. Southern Health–Santé Sud will demonstrate its commitment by providing financial, physical and human resources to reduce hazards and encourage safe and healthy work practices during Client handling. The Region will promote a culture of safety and shared responsibility for a minimal lift environment that includes safe Client handling and movement among all healthcare workers (HCW).

The Safe Client Handling and Injury Prevention Program for Peer Leaders has been developed to familiarize the front-line staff selected to be Leaders with the Safe Client Handling and Injury Prevention Program framework and goals. The Peer Leaders will be provided with strategies to support their co-workers with the implementation of the revised Safe Client Handling and Injury Prevention Program.

Who Should Attend

Anticipated participants for this Peer Leader training include Nurses (RN, RPN, LPN), Home Care Resource Coordinators, Clinical Resource Nurses and Health Care Aide employees.

Note to Participants

  • This is an active session. The participant should come prepared with proper footwear and clothing conducive for participating in the Safe Client Handling Techniques. Please wear clothing that is non-restrictive, proper footwear (for example, running shoes), and minimal amount of jewelry.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided. If you would like a snack, please bring one along with you.
  • The sessions will be open to approximately 8 registrants.
  • Each participant must attend both days.
  • Registration closes one week prior to the session.

It is important to include your personal home/cell # and personal email when registering for education sessions so that you may be reached in the rare instance of last-minute course cancellation/postponements.

Please note that staff registering for this session need to attend BOTH days (June 18 & 20). Staff do not need to register for both days separately; registering for either day will be considered as registration for both.
