Astra Zeneca / COVISHIELD Eligibility Criteria

Effective immediately, Manitoba will now be offering Astra Zeneca / COVISHIELD COVID-19 vaccine to any individual 40 years of age and older.  No high risk medical conditions will be required.  

It is important for all immunization providers to go through all the risks and benefits of getting immunized and what side effects they can expect and what they need to watch for as it relates to VIPIT.  If an Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) is seen, please follow the process to report these as per this website.

Webinar for Treatment and Reporting of Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT)

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Thrombosis Canada, and the National Collaborating Center for Infectious Diseases (NCCID) presents a webinar to inform health care providers on the treatment and reporting of Vaccine-induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT). Objectives of the webinar:

  • To provide an overview of Vaccine-induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT)
  • To inform health care providers on clinical guidance for treatment of VITT
  • To give health care providers information on how to report VITT
