About the Program

The Acute Care of at-Risk Newborn (ACoRN) is a priority-based, clinically oriented framework that sequentially integrates assessment, monitoring, diagnostic evaluations, interventions, and on-going management for at-risk and unwell newborns.

The ACoRN workshop is designed to be an interactive session that utilizes care-based learning and practice stations to apply the concepts and skills presented in the textbook. ACoRN assumes familiarity with Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) at the provider level and all participants attending the ACoRN workshop are expected to have current competency in the NRP Provider Program.

It is recommended that participants review the ACoRN textbook prior to attending the ACoRN sessions in order to derive the greatest benefit from this course. This one-day intensive course is a combination of didactic presentations/review of systems and “hands on” learning. (Textbooks are available on loan to participants).

The ACoRN workshop is designed to utilize the ACoRN tool in individual clinical settings; regardless of the complexity of the newborn’s condition or the frequency with which the practitioner is called upon to manage such conditions.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation. This includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, midwives, respiratory care practitioners and other health care professionals who provide direct care.

    • ACoRN Online Exam The ACoRN online exam must be completed prior toparticipating in an ACoRN course.
